How To Make Our Delicious Homemade Lemonade

There aren’t many drinks as refreshing as a glass of ice-cold lemonade after a long, hot day. Store-bought lemonade can work in a pinch, but there is something special about homemade lemonade that cannot be replicated. After making thousands of lemonades, this very simple, 4-ingredient lemonade is our absolute favorite.

  • 1 Large Lemon, or 2 Small Lemons
  • 1/4 cup of Fine Granulated Sugar
  • 11 oz of Ice
  • 10 oz Water

Granulated Sugar Vs Simple Syrup

Why do we use granulated sugar instead of simple syrup? This is a great question, as simple syrup would undeniably be easier to mix than granulated sugar, and homemade simple syrup is cheap and delicious. The answer is two-fold.
First, because of the food permit we have, everything has to be prepared on-site, so all of our ingredients are commercially produced and ready to use. With this requirement in mind, the cost of commercially made, high-quality simple syrup would have caused us to raise the price of our lemonade higher than we felt was fair. Second, after trying this recipe with both sugar and simple syrup, we preferred the taste with sugar.
A common complaint with granulated sugar is that it doesn’t dissolve completely in the ice-cold lemonade. To fix this, we use fine-grained sugar. This leads to much quicker and more complete dissolving, removing the “grainy” texture.

Let’s Make It!

With only a handful of steps, this lemonade is extremely easy to make. Start by cutting your lemon into 4 – 6 slices with either the fruit cutter or by knife. Then, place the lemons in your 32-oz serving container. Muddle the lemons with the lemon squeezer or muddler until all of the juice has been released from the lemons. Next, add your 1/4 cup of sugar. If you want to get crazy, this is the perfect time to add any syrups to flavor your lemonade. Finally, add your ice, top it up with water, shake the until the sugar is completely dissolved, and enjoy!
